I have been involved with a number of science competitions for high school students in all capacities: as participant, mentor, juror, problem author, organizer, and fundraiser, across a dozen countries and several languages.

International Young Physicists’ Tournament

Between 2009-2019 I worked with the International Young Physicists' Tournament (IYPT), an annual worldwide team competition for high school students in solving complex, open-ended problems and discussing solutions. At the international level, only one team per country participates every year, selected by the national-level competition.

At the international level, I led teams of several countries in different years, as well as served on the jury. At the national level, I started three national IYPT versions from scratch. In 2015, I helped to [re]start USIYPT, the national tournament in the United States. In 2015, 2016, and 2018 I organized and taught IYPT Chile workshops in Santiago, Chile, ultimately sending the first-ever Chilean team to the IYPT (see the article about those workshops). In 2019, I organized and taught an IYPT workshop in Aguascalientes, Mexico, sending the first Mexican team to the IYPT after a 13-year absence.

For several years, I've been an IYPT problem author and a contributor to the IYPT Archive and the IYPT Reference Kit.

International Young Naturalists’ Tournament

Between 2015-2017 I worked with the International Young Naturalists' Tournament (IYNT), a junior version of IYPT aimed at students aged 12-16 and covering a wider range of sciences. I served as the Chairman of the Situation Center, responsible for communication between the international organizers, the local organizers in the host country, and the participating teams. In that capacity, I was one of the chief organizers of IYNTs 2015 (Serbia), 2016 (Iran), 2017 (China).

International Physics Olympiad

I have also taught classes preparing students for the International Physics Olympiad, an exam-style competition for individuals, between 2010-2014.

Miscellaneous

Apart from competitions, I have given popular science presentations to a range of audiences, including elementary, middle, and high school students, as well as the general public, across several countries, in English, Russian, Belarusian, and Spanish languages.
